WORK · CASE 04

AI for Arabic content, with the rights in order

Narration, discovery and a fair pilot, under one rule: no AI channel opens before the contract covers it.

AIRights

The problem

AI creates real value for Arabic publishing, in narration, discovery and metadata. It also creates rights exposure, because most publisher contracts do not mention AI.

What I did

I scoped an internal narration engine that uses an open-source speech model to batch-generate audiobooks from the ebook catalogue and to power instant read-aloud in the reader app. I set up the Samawy AI Lab with a strategy note and a shared roadmap. I wrote the product case for an AI visitor-navigation pilot for the Riyadh International Book Fair, framed around Saudi Arabia's Year of Artificial Intelligence 2026. On rights, I hold one rule: no AI channel opens until a publisher addendum covers AI use.

What it produced

The narration engine is at MVP scope. The fair pilot is at proposal stage.
