Lab
Small tools I built for Arabic publishing. Some are public. Some are in progress. Each started as a problem I had at work.
| Tool | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Book Blurber | Generates Arabic book blurbs and categories from an uploaded manuscript. Built with Streamlit and Gemini. | Working |
| BuildBook | An InDesign script that builds a print-ready book interior and auto-formats a placed Word manuscript. Right-to-left by default on a Middle East build. | In use on bilingual editions |
| Typesetting agent | Takes a Word manuscript, detects headings and roles, and applies template styles. A layered design: extract, classify, apply. | In design. Local web app first |
| Cover mockup generator | Builds front-and-back book mockups from the guides inside a print cover file. Handles right-to-left order. | Working |
| Translation skills | AI-assisted translation and translation-QA workflows for Arabic with English, French and Chinese. QA uses one scoring rubric for human and AI translators. | Built and in test |
| Publishing intelligence agent | A daily workflow that collects industry news and routes it for review, with a bilingual LinkedIn draft step. | Running |
| Piracy Sweeper | Research into detecting book piracy in Arabic and English, including the role of ISCC identifiers. | Research stage |
| Masar | A multi-tenant publishing workflow system built on Cloudflare. Right-to-left from the start. | In development |
